ACTUARIAL SOCIETY 2012 CONVENTION
Dear Colleagues
On behalf of the Actuarial Society's 2012 Convention Organising Committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to participate in the Convention. The 39th Convention of the Actuarial Society of South Africa will be held from 16-17 October at the Cape Town International Convention Centre and will welcome members from around the country, as well as many esteemed international guests and speakers.
Our annual convention is our primary vehicle for achieving the Society's mission:
- to ensure the relevance and enhance the role and reputation of the profession, both in South Africa and within the international actuarial community;
- to develop the expertise and skills of members and expand these to meet new opportunities as conditions change;
- to require that the professional conduct and skills of members meet the highest standards; and
- to harness the expertise of our members to establish a position of thought leadership to inform public debate.
The Convention is also a vehicle to promote communication and debate about all aspects of actuarial practice, research, and education in South Africa and in this regard the Committee is developing an exceptional programme to ensure quality professional development opportunities. The Convention is a two-day event and with the continued growth of and engagement with our membership, we expect well in excess of 1000 delegates to attend this year.
